RV Maintenance Checklist!

Here’s a basic RV Maintenance Checklist that you can use as a guide for your regular upkeep. Feel free to modify it based on your RV’s specific needs.

Weekly Maintenance Tasks

  • Tire Pressure Check: Ensure tires are at the manufacturer-recommended pressure.
  • Test All Lights: Check headlights, brake lights, and interior lighting.
  • Battery Charge: If you’re parked, ensure the battery is charged or plugged into a power source.
  • Flush Waste Tanks: Empty the grey and black water tanks and flush with water to avoid build-up.

Monthly Maintenance Tasks

  • Inspect Seals and Seams: Check all windows, doors, and the roof for any cracks, leaks, or wear. Reseal if necessary.
  • Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply lubricant to hinges, slide-outs, and locks.
  • Check Propane: Inspect your propane tanks and connections for leaks or damage. Make sure the regulator is working correctly.
  • Test Smoke and CO Detectors: Check that all safety alarms are working, and replace batteries if necessary.
  • Clean Air Conditioner Filters: If you're using the air conditioner, clean the filters to ensure efficient operation.

Seasonal Maintenance (Every 3-6 Months)

  • Clean and Reseal Roof: Give the roof a thorough cleaning and apply sealant to any areas that might need it.
  • Test Generator: Run your generator to ensure it’s functioning properly, and perform an oil change if necessary.
  • Check the Brakes: Inspect the brakes for wear and tear, especially before long trips.
  • Flush Water System: Sanitize the fresh water tank and flush out the water system to avoid contamination.
  • Inspect HVAC System: Clean out vents and inspect the heating and air conditioning systems to make sure they’re working properly.

Annual Maintenance

  • Inspect and Replace Seals: Check all weather seals around windows, doors, and slide-outs. Replace any that are worn or cracked.
  • Full Plumbing System Check: Check all plumbing connections and look for leaks or signs of wear.
  • Inspect Electrical System: Have a professional inspect the entire electrical system to ensure all appliances and wiring are safe.
  • Tire Rotation and Alignment: Rotate your tires to ensure even wear and get an alignment if necessary.
  • Full Brake Inspection: Have a professional inspect the braking system for any issues, especially if you’re towing a heavy load.
  • Winterization (If Applicable): Before winter, drain all water lines and add antifreeze to prevent freezing in cold climates.
